One of Hannover's most important garden artworks

The beginnings of the historic city park are related to the construction of the representative Stadthallen-Ensemble 1913/14, today's Hannover Congress Centrum. Just a short time after its opening, the garden, which at that time was strictly architectural, was considered the most elegant garden in the city.

In 1933, the city park was used to host the annual show of German gardening culture and expanded by several garden showers. For the first Federal Garden Show in 1951, the terrain once again served as an exhibition park.

Today, its historical significance in the post-war period and its excellent state of preservation make the city park a valuable and living cultural monument.

The park breathes in a unique way the character of a public residential garden of the 1950s-1960s:
Free-moving chairs and loungers invite you to "comfortably" set up your own favorite place. A circular route opens up the diverse garden areas, such as the large perennial garden or the 120 varieties of rose garden. The water features of the Fountain Garden and its colorful, alternating flowerbeds from the 1960s are another attraction, as is the Japanese tea garden, which was inaugurated in 1996 and created as part of the city partnership between Hannover and Hiroshima. The park is especially appreciated by visitors who are looking for botanical variety, relaxation and quiet enjoyment of nature.

The city park experiences an even greater botanical diversity in May during the "Hannoverian plant days", which have become established as a fixture in the calendars of garden lovers. On two days, numerous traders then offer an exquisite range of plants on the site.
