On the site are numerous monuments, memorial stones and plaques

They are located in the Wuppertal district Barmen, which until the unification with the neighboring city of Elberfeld in 1929 was an independent city in the Bergisches Land. The facilities were designed from 1864 to plans by the royal gardening director Joseph Clemens Weyhe and extend from the residential district Heidt on the southern edge of the Barmer downtown area up to the Barmer Südhöhen with the Barmer forest around the Toelleturm at an altitude of 330 m above sea level. NN in the residential district Lichtenplatz. The height difference between the northern part and the highest elevation is about 135 meters with a length extension in north-south direction of about 1200 meters. The area size, including the part of the Barmer Wald belonging to the facilities, is about 300 hectares, of which 77 hectares are owned by the Barmer Beautification Association and 212 hectares owned by the city of Wuppertal. Approximately 100 hectares of the facilities are designed as landscaped gardens.
