Today the Museum of Academic Art is housed

It is the voter Ferdinand, who begins building the city of Bonn as a residential electoral city, building fortifications from a medieval town and a palace that was destroyed again in 1689. On the ruins, voter Joseph Clemens begins building a magnificent new building, in front of the southern façade of the courtyard garden.

The Hofgarten, built in the mid-18th century, was originally built on French models with model trees, statues, terraces and a low-level promenade lined with linden trees. Shortly after 1820, the "Anatomy" (designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel) was built instead of the large fountain.

The Museum of Academic Art is the oldest museum in Bonn. The Antikensammlung of the University of Bonn boasts more than 500 teams of sculptures and artifacts and more than 2,000 original copies.

Hofgarten received his current appearance during this time. In the Baroque concept, the view of the Rhine was part of the park. Modern development on the riverbank and Schinkel-Bau prevent this day. Thus, the area of the park in the open countryside is naturally landscaped, measuring seven and a half hectares. After 1779, Hofgarten received a garden room in Old Style in the English Style with exotic trees.
