    Nature Reserve

The Dune Tannenbusch Nature Reserve, which is about 7 hectares, was first designated by the City of Bonn on a decree basis and was placed under the protection currently in place in the Kottenforst Landscape Plan on 27 February 2013. The area is located in the middle of a settlement area in the Tanbenbush area, No matter what inside Siedzuszusamenhangs in northern Bonn.

These are the effects of the inner sand dunes dating back to about 10,000 years. Before the re-greening of glaciers after the last glacial period, sand masses were accumulating in this area up to the sand dunes. Sand dunes are made of pure sand, and therefore very dry and nutrient-poor, so that only vegetation capable of adapting to these harsh conditions can be established here. It is home to endangered plant and animal species, especially for dry and nutritious grassland species as well as insects.

    Nature reserve Tanbush dune
Dune Tannenbusch is one of the few inner sand dunes that still exist in Germany.
In addition to typical plant species, sand dunes are also home to many insect species. In order to secure the area as a habitat for animals and plants, the Bonn Biological Station regularly carries out care measures in the nature reserve. The focus is on preserving the distinctive mosaics of open sandy areas, sparse plants and protection from the slow start of the jungle.
