    City Park

    The origins of the city's garden today lie in the collective and separatist gardens that existed since 802 Benedictine Monastery in San Alban. In the years 1672 to 1693 Count Christophe Rudolph of the Stadion Gardens was artistically designed. Bauer has the electorate of the late 17th century Lothar Franz von Schonborn on this site, the "favorite" summer residence, a Baroque-style park with its own pleasure palace after the model of French and Italian gardens. Much of the praise went by the contemporary Gartenkunstwerk during the 1792/93 war years.
    The upper part of the destroyed area served on November 3, 1803 as the site of the execution of the legendary thief commander Johannes Bucler - known as Schinderhannes - and 19 members of his gangs who raided and stole passengers in Hunsrück and in Nahe and in Taunus.
    After the acquisition of the site by the city of Mainz, the Heinz-Heinz Heinz Peter 1819/1820 established between the Fort of Kartos and the banks of the Rhine, a new facility in the English garden style. Contemporary literature praised the landscape garden as a "small paradise". He gave his current garden face but only the Sismayer brothers, who had previously designed Frankfurt in the Mengarten.

    To celebrate the year 2000 anniversary of the city in 1962, a house for birds and a farm was created for reading and comfort. The statue of Baroque Hercules and the trunk of the river god Reynos was reconstructed from the old favorite park. Old flower houses no longer exist.

    The Rose Garden

    On the city park there is now a romantic rose garden with about 4,500 roses. It was created in 1925 on the occasion of the rose show designed by architect Nierstein Park August August. The basic idea showed two mutual axes, still standing with many areas. To view the latest roses in 1935, the rose garden was expanded and greatly updated. In 1962, the area was listed as a historic monument after further renovation.
    In 2013/2014 there was a thorough renovation of facilities at the Rose Garden. It was after the historical model in addition to the vegetation work, such.     The cage includes zebra, rice juice, canary, silver beak or diamond doves. The main attraction in the cage is the yellow tamarind. The bird lodge is partly glazed and has many outdoor birds. The house is walking, so animals can be seen from the inside. About 10 species of birds and about 100 animals live in ancient birds when moving to Volkspark.
    Flamingoweiher consists of a large pool and a place for feeding. In the winter, flamingos are found in the cage in designated winter places. They spend summer and fall in the pond at the bottom of the park.
