Has a high urban environmental importance

In the meantime, a wide range of tree species and shrubs originated in the largely free zone of development. The extremely dense development around it, the rising population and the obvious green deficit in the northeast were crucial for the late 1980s by the Ingolstadt City Council to use this site as the county park.

The initial assessment process soon revealed that Nordpark in the future has a high urban environmental significance. It is one of the most valuable and largest biological environments in the entire city area. More than 270 trees have trunk circumference more than 60 cm, 109 trees with trunk circumference of more than 120 cm are classified as extremely valuable. The ideal value of this woodland and its social function can not be estimated as a "green lung".

The park is opened through the main pedestrian and cyclist path from Stömmerstraße to the Römerstraße industrial area and across the Römerstraße cycling bridge to the Fort Wrede Customization Park.

    Park Record:
As a result of the Nordpark installation, the open area of the Northeast region nearly doubled from 2.34 square meters of public green space per capita to 4.66 square meters.
The share of play area increased from 1.68 square meters to about 3.75 square meters per person.
Maintaining a large-scale quality enhancement in the current biotope structure and population value trees through careful care measures and inventory-oriented planning.
Develop the park as a residential recreational space for all ages in accordance with environmental requirements to protect the biotope.
Since 2010, the park has undergone two major changes or additions:

As part of the Social City financing program, a multi-functional stadium, including an additional basketball basket, was set up in the park near the Hebbelstraße. The former children's playground was relocated to the west and improved with new equipment.

In the western part of the park, an additional 5800 square meters has been created by converting the former operating areas of Rieter, which followed the park directly. Above all, it will serve as a recreational area for future residents of new residential buildings to be built south. The show at Nordpark completes a central playground with climbing walls and mixed game equipment.
