This garden, unique nationally for its exclusive content in American species, is located on the Isla de la Cartuja, where there is also the Science and Technology Park. It is bounded by the Guadalquivir river basin and the Camino de los Descubrimientos in its east-west orientation and extends from the Rocío Jurado Auditorium to the Navigation Pavilion on its north-south axis. It occupies an area close to 3 hectares.
It is divided into different spaces according to the type of vegetation it presents: the Umbráculo, with an area of 1700 square meters, is formed by wooden slats (certified FSC) that are arranged in a way that favors the necessary shading required by certain tropical species and subtropical the Garden of the Lock, with a related installation of didactic character, the Aquatic Garden is located in a lake that connects with the river through a system of cascades; the Ribera Garden that runs along the riverbank; the Garden of Palm Trees; the Garden of Cacti and Crass Plants; the Landscaped Wall covered by climbing species; the Garden of the Pasarela and the Pergolas with supporting structures for hanging plants that provide shade.
