Large urban park located in the municipality of Venice

Is a large urban park located in the municipality of Venice, in a homogeneous local area. Overlooking Lake Venice, at the beginning of the Libertà Bridge and not far from Marco Polo Airport.

Besides being an area for restoring the environment and landscape and one of the most important places to study the lake environment, it is proposed as a destination for sporting activities and cultural activities for leisure. Thanks to a European garden, the San Giuliano Park is an ambitious project, being one of the most important interventions of urban reclamation and environmental reclamation in Italy in terms of complexity and expression, as well as its remote and regional characteristics.

    Date

    the garden
The project was implemented as part of an intervention in the conservation and conservation of lake habitats and fauna and vegetation in the lake, in contrast to the deterioration of recent decades.

The area in which the park was built is Punta San Giuliano, originally a swamp area, used in recent decades as a burial place for industrial sludge and urban waste accumulated in its row, as well as a bullet point close to the signature, which was carefully rehabilitated during this intervention. The area on which San Giuliano stands comes from an abandoned area (there was only a large Bedouin camp and dog breeding), which became a meeting point between the mainland in Mestre and Venice, and can be seen clearly from the park.

In 1990, an international competition ("San Giuliano Park") was announced by the municipality of Venice to begin the process of revitalizing the area. In 1991, architect Antonio de Mambro represented the group "Comunitas Inc." (Winner of the competition), begins the drafting of the San Giuliano Garden Guide Plan.

    Bridge of Europe
The San Giuliano Park Manual Plan, approved by the Municipality on January 19, 1996, provides for a total development of 700 hectares, which can be divided as follows:

    475 hectares of land
225 hectares of canals, swamps and salt lakes.
With regard to the magnitude of the intervention and the availability of economic resources, construction works (suspended between 1999 and 2000 for judicial reasons) led to the completion of the first two groups (A2 and B1) for a total extension of 74 hectares.

The park was presented to citizens on November 7, 2003 by then-President of the European Commission Romano Prodi and former Costa Costa Mayor; later, it was open to the public for three days (7-9 November 2003). The final opening was held on 8 May 2004.

After approval by the Ministry of the Environment, in October 2011, the reclamation work began in the Punta San Giuliano area, where some sports clubs are active; according to the guide plan for architect de Mambro, the area should instead host a renewable sea column (although this project did not Available after the necessary economic resources). The business, divided into five decades, will expire by May 2013.

    the garden
Today, the San Giuliano Park covers 74 hectares, provides green spaces, a few recreational recreational areas in the equipped areas, a ski circuit and a sports stadium, as well as a network of footpaths and cycling in the green system.

It is connected to the neighborhood of San Giuseppe by a pedestrian bridge with a cable cable (Ponte Europe) allowing you to cross SS 14: 140 meters and about 7 meters high from the road level.

The park is famous for its rich life, and is actually a nesting area for many birds.
