The Transfiguration Garden was founded in 1937. Previously, it was here the first Christian and Jewish cemetery in Odessa. At the beginning of the 20th century, the cemetery played the role of a city park, and locals liked to stroll here and read the names carved on the monuments. According to historians, even the cemetery erected a chapel apparently to die. Historians claim that there are often chains tied to the ends of the dead: if the body moves, the thread will collapse.
With the advent of Soviet power, the cemetery was demolished on the ground, tombstones and crypts were destroyed and the garden of Ilyich was planted, which later received the symbolic name of the Transfiguration. Amusement parks and dances were held here, but were not mentioned even under the feet. Regarding the tragic past of the park, the stories of ghosts that walk in the park are very popular among the residents of Odessa. In particular, the ghost of actress Vera Kholodnaya, who wanders in search of her grave.
Today in the park local authorities plan to create a memorial complex of the first city builders, as well as a museum and garden sculptures. The park rehabilitation program also provides redevelopment and preservation of the site at any time of the day.

The Transfiguration Garden covers an area of 13 hectares. More than 60,000 trees and shrubs have been planted in this huge yard. Almost all were imported from other regions of the country. Some seedlings here came from other countries. In summer, you can play table tennis in the garden, with special tables set up here. There are also inflatable trampoline attractions here.
