Designed in 1811, the Botanical Garden evaded in 1887 to Schubertstrasse, the current site.
The creation of the first greenhouse began in 1889. It was used until the new greenhouses were opened in 1995; the demolition was planned in 1997, but it was not implemented as a result of the citizen's initiative participation. Today, the greenhouse that needs to be renovated is a listed and unused building.
The construction of new greenhouses began in 1989. It opened on June 25, 1995.
The greenhouse built in 1889 is known as the old greenhouse.
