The park was the last to be independently realized

In today's theater yard area between Hot Spring Colonnade and Municipal Theater, many of the buildings were original at the end of the nineteenth century. Among them are the Golden Shield, Red House, Two Trout, Diadem and Blue Boat houses with a theater café. In 1909, all the buildings were purchased by Karlovy Vary, who pledged to build a modern spa house on their land.

However, the grand plans after three years of conflict ultimately ended, and a small garden with formal design was created in the vacant space with the support of the population. In 1966, a bronze monument to V. I. Lenin was built in the garden on Lenin Square, which was completed by local sculptor Václav Relich after national artist Jan Lauda. After changing the political system, the monument was removed in 1990. The park on Divadelní Square was the last independently realized park in Karlovy Vary.
