The castle gardens are divided into the upper, middle and lower castle garden as well as the academy garden.
In the upper castle garden between Kunstgebäude and Landtag lies the Eckensee with fountain. The former royal private garden is today a public park with lawns and benches. The backdrop of the opera, the Schauspielhaus and the Württemberg Landtag gives it a very special atmosphere. Especially at the Stuttgart Summer Festival the upper castle garden shines! He is always a popular meeting place and place of relaxation.
Behind the New Palace is the Academy Garden with its pretty Empire Fountain. Here once stood the High Carlsschule of the Duke Carl Eugen with her famous pupil Friedrich Schiller.
