About Park

  • Preview

Its name comes from Hofgut Rebstock, which dates back to the 13th century

Smoke rises and the smell of grilled products on the pond in Rebstockpark. Families meet for barbecues in lush lawns in the shade of the trees with great views of the lake. Children play in the grass and on winding paths or strolling in the nearby playground. On the lake, ducks lead their families. It has an area of three hectares and is fed by underground water. Ice vesicles decompose in front of the island. It is crowded with trees and grasslands, whose branches stand out in the water. Bird's paradise, has also been spotted cormorant. Reeds and trees grow along the lake shore. The orchards and tree groups are gently strolling through the 28-hectare garden with narrow bars on the right track. If the Frankfurter Feldbahnmuseum am Römerhof has to drive on certain days, visitors can take a light train using a historic train across the park.

In the north, highway A 648 leads the fairgrounds beside the park, while custom gardens and sports facilities are located on the border in the south. Above the Rebstock recreational bath, dogs enjoy free exercise on large meadows. The new Rebstockpark is next to the bathroom and large parking lots for exhibitions. In 2005, it was based on the positions of previous trade fairs. The "Rasengracht" runs 400 meters across, on both sides, play areas, sunbathing facilities, sports facilities and oak slabs inviting residents of new residential areas nearby.

Since the end of the eighteenth century, hot air balloons have started here, and in 1909, Count Zeppelin landed in his area during the International Airship Fair. In 1912, AG airship AG was established in the Frankfurt port area. It was later expanded with runways for passenger and cargo transport. Since 1937, when the new airport was opened in the city's forest, it was used only as a sports airport and in World War II for military aircraft. Between 1945 and 1952, the gravel was removed here. Only from 1958 the public park was built and the pool established. The spacious indoor pool in the garden was added in 1982.
