The first zoo to be established in the Netherlands
Artis is the oldest zoo in the Netherlands, founded in 1838. The park is characterized by its huge corridors, trees, and impressive statues, along with historical buildings, that return its visitor to the atmosphere of the nineteenth century. There are also species of reptiles, fish, birds, mammals and insects.
