A botanical garden located north of Caen city center
The Botanical Garden of Caen obtained the approval "Botanical Garden of France and French-speaking countries" in 1997. A botanical garden is "an institution which gathers documented collections of living plants for purposes of scientific research, conservation and education".
The Botanical Gardens of France and Francophone Countries Charter is in line with the Botanical Gardens of the European Union Action Plan developed by Botanic Gardens Conservation International. The purpose of this charter is to clarify the roles and missions of botanic gardens.
