A public park in the city of Strasbourg located on the site of the old citadel
The park was built in 1964 around the remains of the citadel built by Vauban from 1681 and of which there remain two branches (the fortress being in the shape of a star) as well as a barbican and some ditches acting as a moat. The Esplanade district is built on the site of the citadel, which in its day was the centerpiece of the city's fortifications.
